The nearest town of Harleston is only 2 miles away. A picturesque little market town which has Free parking and a good selection of individual shops, supermarket, café’s, pubs, restaurants and takeaway’s. Try a visit on Wednesday which is Market day.Other local towns of Diss, Bungay, Beccles and Halesworth are only a short drive away and all have their own Market Day, shops and individual character.
If you fancy a visit to the coast, then the seaside town of Southwold is less than thirty minutes away. Southwold is a very popular attraction with its Golden sands, Beach huts and Victorian pier. The towns of Dunwich and Aldeburgh are also well worth a visit, as is Walberswick which is near to Southwold and is good for dog walking. For a more traditional seaside destination there is always Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
There is a varied selection of Cafe’s, Restaurants and Hotels in and around the local area, all offering a range of good food from fine dining to traditional fayre, and there are plenty of local pubs which serve good quality food and local ales. In each cottage we list a number of places all within a three mile radius of the cottages including our village pub which is only a mile away.
The Cathedral city of Norwich is about 20 miles away and offers a number of attractions including Museums, Historic buildings, Galleries and Theatres, or a good day shopping in its Malls, Markets and many individual shops throughout its narrow winding streets.
An excellent day out for all. Large Garden centre with 17 acres of grounds and gardens owned by the Bloom family. Walk or take a train ride and then visit the Train museum and the national Dad’s Army collection on-site.
Excellent fishing is available nearby at Weybread with its 6 Lakes and the nearby River Waveney offering a wide variety of species. Day& Weekly tickets available in Harleston.
There are many lovely walks in the area which are suited to all abilities, and the local countryside attracts many cyclists. Information on these activities and ordinance survey maps are available in the cottages.
This is one of best bird watching areas in the country from the local fens and marchlands such as Redgrave and Lopham to the better known coastal locations such as RSPB Minsmere.
